Helping people understand their pain, improve their movement, restore confidence, and take control of their health.
We are looking for a Full-Time Physical Therapist to join our growing clinic in North Liberty, IA, located near the Iowa City area. This is an opportunity to work in a supportive, one-on-one care model where holistic care, patient education, and long-term wellness are central to everything we do.

- Competitive salary of $85,000–$95,000 per year, designed to support long-term career sustainability
- Paid time off
- Full-time schedule
- No late-night evenings so you can be home in time for dinner
- One-on-one patient care
- No overlap or double booking
- Manageable patient load
- Structured mentorship
- Supportive team environment
- Opportunity to work with complex chronic pain patients
- Opportunity to grow in a holistic, biopsychosocial model of care
- Exposure to treatment approaches including dry needling, manual therapy, pain education, nervous system regulation, and wellness-based interventions
- A clinic culture built around health, autonomy, leadership, grace, respect, and making a difference
Why This Role Matters
Motion Matters Physical Therapy & Wellness was built from a belief that patients deserve more than rushed appointments and symptom-based care.
Our owner, Natalie Johnston, opened the clinic after more than two decades of experience across hospital-based care, acute care, long-term care, pediatrics, hippotherapy, and high-volume outpatient settings.
Across those settings, she saw the limitations of care models that did not allow Physical Therapists to treat the whole person.
Motion Matters was created to be different.
Here, patients receive individualized care that blends traditional Physical Therapy with a holistic, biopsychosocial approach. We specialize in complex chronic pain, movement dysfunction, nervous system regulation, pain education, dry needling, hands-on techniques, and whole-person wellness.
This is a strong fit for a Physical Therapist in the Iowa City area who wants to think deeply, treat intentionally, educate patients well, and help people move forward in their health with confidence.
Why PTs Choose Motion Matters
At Motion Matters Physical Therapy & Wellness, we believe Physical Therapists should be able to focus on improving their patients’ overall health and wellness.
You will have the time to get to know your patients, understand their story, identify what matters to them, and build a plan that supports meaningful recovery.
Our clinic specializes in helping patients with complex pain conditions by blending conventional Physical Therapy with holistic approaches that support the whole person. - Thinking beyond a standard exercise sheet

What You’ll Do
- Evaluate and treat patients in a one-on-one care model
- Create individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s goals, history, and needs
- Work with patients experiencing complex chronic pain, movement limitations, and wellness-related challenges
- Use a blend of traditional Physical Therapy and holistic strategies to support recovery
- Educate patients on pain, movement, nervous system regulation, and long-term self-management
- Provide hands-on care, movement-based treatment, and patient-centered exercise programming
- Support patients in returning to the activities they love
- Document clearly and professionally
- Collaborate with the team to strengthen and expand the clinic’s holistic model of care
- Bring ideas, energy, and out-of-the-box thinking to help patients and the clinic continue to grow
