Position Title: Accounting Manager
Location: Statesville, NC (Hybrid)
Compensation: $120,000 - $135,000 / Annually
Employment Type: Direct Hire

Role Overview:
- Lead and oversee daily accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Payroll, Purchasing, General Ledger, and Cost Accounting functions
- Manage and mentor a team of 4+ accounting professionals in a stable, self-sufficient environment
- Partner closely with executive leadership to support financial strategy, reporting, and operational improvements
- Ensure accurate financial reporting while maintaining compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily accounting activities and provide guidance to the accounting team
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements
- Perform monthly balance sheet account analysis and reconciliations
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for operating expenses and capital expenditures
- Prepare and analyze financial reports to support business decisions
- Assist with annual budget preparation and financial planning initiatives
- Coordinate annual audits and prepare audit working papers
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of required regulatory and financial reporting
- Manage banking relationships and oversee financial service costs
- Support loan applications, documentation, and funding requests
- Provide financial guidance and support to various departments and locations
- Assist with software implementations, system enhancements, and data reporting initiatives
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience with supervisory or management responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Experience managing month-end/year-end close processes
- Background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and support a team
- Experience in a cooperative environment preferred
- CPA or advanced education is a plus
Technical Skills:
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools
- ERP/accounting system experience
- Experience with NISC or utility-specific systems preferred
