Position Summary:
The Operations Manager is responsible for the successful operation of assigned landfills by ensuring sites are open and operating safely and efficiently. Effectively manages the day-to-day operations, safety and assigned Operations Supervisors. Ensures site compliance with all company, county and regulatory agencies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manages performance of day-to-day operations.
- Designs and implements landfill drainage and Fill Sequence Plans.
- Monitors soil usage and compaction to ensure all sites are in compliance.
- Meets and works with all enforcement regulatory agencies.
- Responsible for the training and development skills of the workforce by providing proper guidance and coaching.
- Engaging in the interview process in order to hire the most talented and qualified personnel.
- Attends weekly staff meetings with management team.
- Determines workflow, staffing levels, monitors equipment operations and maintenance, conducts safety training, all while fostering a work environment based on teamwork and cooperation.
- Ensures assigned landfills meet all Federal and State Regulations, OSHA and local requirements.
- Ensures equipment is maintained and monitors that it’s repaired timely and efficiently.
- Operates heavy equipment as needed.
- Responsible to maintain and ensure the overall safety of employees, customers and visitors.
- Engages employees to create a safe, energetic work environment through feedback and recognition.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in construction or any related field.
- 5 – 7 years’ experience in a leadership role.
- 4 – 6 years’ experience in a construction / landfill environment.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, SWANA and other related state and federal regulations.
- Must have demonstrated leadership, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to coach and develop subordinates.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to effectively interface with general public and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the waste-recycling or transportation industries.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $102,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
