Overview
Old Salt Chocolate is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Chocolate Maker to support our production of a line of wholesale chocolate bars to be available to retail stores.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process ingredients according to established recipes to flavor and quality standards per specific recipe needs
- Operate and maintain machinery used in chocolate production, including tempering machines, mixers, and packaging equipment
- Filling chocolate molds accurately and neatly, then topping the chocolate according to each flavor’s specification in a timely manner while on a chocolate vibrating table.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the production area in accordance with food safety protocols
- Monitor production lines for quality assurance, adjusting processes as needed to meet product specifications
- This role is required to package the bars in bags, envelopes then case pack boxes for distribution and ticket bars and case packs with accurate expiration dates and batch codes.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and facilities to prevent contamination or safety hazards
- Ingredient inventory of both chocolate and topping/flavor ingredients.
- Document production activities meticulously for traceability and compliance audits which include keeping detailed records of production batch codes and establishing expiration dates.
- Working with in serve safe regulations for cleanliness in food preparation.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment
- Experience in food production or food processing industry preferred
- Strong understanding of sanitation practices essential for maintaining a clean work environment
- Basic math skills for measurements, recipe adjustments, and quality checks in order to follow recipes
- Familiarity with packaging procedures specific to the food industry
- Excellent attention to detail coupled with good organizational skills
- Effective communication skills for teamwork and compliance documentation
- Ability to lift upwards to 50lbs, stand for long periods of time
Qualifications
- Serve Safe Food Handler certification
- Allergy awareness certification
- Previous experience working with chocolate
- Previous culinary experience and/or education.
Additional responsibilities within the organization
Helping with production of additional product lines as needed, including mixing and packaging salt blends, mixing and packaging candy and snack mixes, and jarring honey
On the job training will be provided

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
