Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support clinical procedures such as catheter care, wound care, phlebotomy, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams in various settings like hospitals (including ICU and trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and outpatient clinics to deliver seamless patient care.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies to ensure accurate medical records.
- Engage with patients who have complex needs such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease, providing specialized memory care or behavioral health support.
- Use equipment like Hoyer lifts or other mobility aids to assist with patient transfers safely and effectively.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program; current state licensure required where applicable.
- Prior experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including Level I Trauma Centers or PICUs), long-term care facilities, hospice care, or home health is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and infection control practices including aseptic technique.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for accurate documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities; experience in dementia or Alzheimer's care is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in high-pressure situations like emergency medicine or urgent care settings.
- Ability to lift patients safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
