DIRECTOR OF YOGA
Employment type: Full Time Job function: Management of the Yoga Program
The Yoga Director will ensure all classes are taught to the TruFusion standard and that members receive the highest quality experience in the industry. This position will be responsible for the recruitment and onboarding of new team members. The Director will build community amongst the teachers and students through exceptional quality products which include the highest level of teaching in the industry, a variety of eclectic programming, workshops and training. As a member of the TruFusion leadership team, the Director of Yoga will participate in and contribute to the overall operational success of the business, including working in a cross-functional manner across departments as needed for the health and success of the studio. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the General Manager.
Yoga Department
- Manage the audition, onboarding, training and quality control processes of all yoga instructors, including quarterly reviews for all instructors
- Participate in the delivery of yoga teacher training (including 200 hr YTT) and ongoing education programs.
- Responsible for staying up to date on all yoga trends to ensure TruFusion classes are the most unique and the highest quality in the industry.
- Manage studio schedules with the goal of increasing studio utilization within given budgets. Regularly make recommendations for appropriate modifications.
Customer Service
- Will deliver training on class management and customer service for the teachers in the classroom and at the front desk.
- When in the studios, will ensure all classes are taught to standard, that teachers follow class management guidelines and that all TruFusion employees display the highest level of customer service.
- Engage in the sales process whenever appropriate and necessary
- Manage and respond to customer requests, complaints, and questions whenever appropriate and necessary
Operations
- Will help manage the budget for the yoga department.
- Will participate in the review process for yoga teachers.
- Will be responsible for managing the sub process for the yoga department.
- Teach a minimum of 8 class a week within the yoga department (could be spread into Fitness department if appropriate)
- Build community and camaraderie among team members, teachers and members
- Participate in the “Manager on Duty” program
- Any other studio management and duty as is deemed required by the General Manager and other members of the management team.
Financial Targets
- Will be responsible for hitting annual targets in class participation, yoga training and workshops.
- Responsible for the successful attainment of department targets including revenue and member retention.
- Operate within the overall financial budget of the studio
Work environment
Must be willing to teach and work in heated yoga studios up to 105 degrees.
Will teach 8-10 branded classes per week and additional if needed based on sub requests.
Will spend the rest of the time in the studios working on scheduling, meeting with teachers, working behind the desk, and contributing to the overall operational excellence of the business.
It may be required that a full day is worked on a weekend, but ideally two days per week should be scheduled off, unless the business requires more time in the studios and classroom. The duties of this job will be performed in the studio, this is not a remote position.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years management/director experience in a yoga studio with a minimum of 10 employees.
- Have knowledge of all major styles of yoga including established branches and up and coming trends.
- Ability to hire, train and identify yoga teaching talent.
- Experience in and a demonstrated deep understanding of the yoga industry is a must.
- Proven leadership ability.
- Enthusiastic, energetic and personable. This person will be passionate and highly knowledgeable regarding the yoga industry.
- E-RYT 500 certified by Yoga Alliance
- CPR and AED certified.
Physical Requirements
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Employee must be able to work hours that exceed 40 hours per week including nights and weekends to meet or interview various team members when they are teaching or are available.
- Ability to successfully teach up to 12 branded classes per week.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to sit stand for up to 4 hours at a time.
- Ability to work in studio, teach various yoga classes, review and create paperwork, communicate with employees, members and the public.
- Regularly required to demonstrate or explain proper form on fitness activities.
- Regularly required to lift up to 50 lbs.
Compensation
- $55,800-$60,400 base salary
- 50% commission on teacher trainings led by the director
