Job Overview
We are seeking a self motivated and driven Front Desk Receptionist/Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team at our newly opening Bloomfield Hills location. This vital role combines front desk administrative support with clinical assistance, ensuring smooth operations in a growing mental health medical practice. You will serve as the on site first point of contact for patients, manage appointment scheduling, verify insurance information, and assist with medical documentation and basic clinical tasks.
Cognosis Health is a specialty group of physicians, advanced practitioners and therapists dedicated to providing a wide variety of therapeutic and behavioral services to adults, children, and families experiencing emotional and behavioral health challenges. While established in Grand Blanc, our Bloomfield Hills location will be new and rapidly growing.
We are currently seeking a versatile team member to provide administrative and clinical support to our professional staff during our growth period and beyond. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in either medical office reception/front desk, billing and coding, or clinical support with a functional knowledge and willingness to expand into the other roles.
Duties
- Greet patients assist them with the check-in process.
- Schedule new and established patients, helping to match them to the best provider for their needs.
- Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details and medical histories.
- Collect patient balances, copays, and deductibles. Facilitate assistance with payment plans and hardship assistance as needed.
- Assist healthcare providers by preparing external referrals or completing other required forms.
- Monitor waiting room activities to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Handle incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and relay messages promptly.
- Coordinate with professional staff regarding patient flow and any urgent care needs.
- Perform basic tasks such as taking vital signs when necessary.
Desired Experience
- Previous medical office work
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems or strong knowledge of technology and ease of learning new systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to maintain professionalism in rare challenging situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient service excellence.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
