Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Activities Assistant to enrich the lives of residents in our senior living community. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for engaging older adults through thoughtfully planned programs and recreational activities. As an Activities Assistant, you will play a vital role in fostering a vibrant, inclusive environment by coordinating events, building resident rapport, and supporting overall well-being. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors while utilizing your skills in event planning, program development, and geriatric care.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of engaging activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including recreational therapy sessions and social events.
- Coordinate resident events that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical activity.
- Assist with daily living activities (ADLs) such as mobility support and personal care as needed to ensure residents’ comfort and safety.
- Develop individualized activity plans that accommodate residents with memory care needs, Alzheimer's disease, or other disabilities.
- Build strong relationships with residents by fostering trust and encouraging participation in community programs.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and activity feedback to continually improve program offerings.
- Collaborate with team members, including nursing staff and caregivers, to ensure holistic resident care and effective communication.
- Manage schedules for activities and events efficiently using Microsoft Office tools to ensure timely execution.
Experience
- Prior experience working with seniors in assisted living facilities or nursing homes is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, geriatrics, and memory care best practices.
- Proven skills in event planning, program development, and recreational therapy tailored for older adults.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs within a long-term care or home & community care setting.
- Strong communication skills essential for building rapport with residents, families, and team members.
- Familiarity with scheduling tools and recordkeeping software such as Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Previous leadership experience in team coordination or activity program management is advantageous.
