Position Summary:
The Bookkeeping Supervisor is a senior-level accounting professional responsible for leading a small team of mostly remote bookkeepers. This role combines technical bookkeeping expertise with leadership responsibilities, including reviewing staff financial statements, mentoring team members, managing client cleanup and catch-up projects, being a senior among peers and ensuring consistent service quality across all client engagements.
Note: This is a Hybrid position with 3-5 days in office per month.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and approve bookkeeping work completed by staff bookkeepers.
- Provide coaching, training, and ongoing support to bookkeeping team members.
- Establish and maintain bookkeeping procedures, workflows, and quality standards.
- Monitor workload distribution and assist with project prioritization.
Client Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Manage complex client bookkeeping engagements.
- Perform account reconciliations, month-end close procedures, and financial statement preparation.
- Review and analyze financial data for completeness and accuracy.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies, errors, and accounting issues.
- Maintain strong client relationships through timely and professional communication.
Cleanup & Catch-Up Projects
- Lead new client onboarding and historical bookkeeping cleanup projects.
- Analyze existing accounting records and develop remediation plans.
- Complete catch-up and backwork bookkeeping for clients with incomplete financial records.
- Reconstruct financial data and reconcile accounts as needed.
- Ensure client books are accurate and ready for tax preparation and financial reporting.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and scalability within bookkeeping operations.
- Assist with implementation of technology solutions and workflow enhancements.
- Document processes and create training materials for team development.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping experience with experience reviewing and supervising bookkeeping staff.
- Ability to review financial statements (Identify errors and opportunities for clients)
- Extensive experience with QuickBooks Online.
- Experience performing account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial statement preparation.
- Proven ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience working in a CPA firm or outsourced accounting environment.
- QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification.
- Experience with payroll and sales tax compliance.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience with accounting technology platforms and workflow management tools.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
