Uppercrust, Gainesville’s community artisan bakery since 1981, seeks a bread mixer.
These position assumes no professional/commercial baking experience, and can be part or full time. You will be trained by kitchen shift leads and managers or trusted team members who work the station daily. We aim for our work days to be 6-9 hours, depending on production and prep needs.
Our bread mixer is responsible for mixing five staple breads daily, our croissant dough, and specialty breads. The bread mixer is also responsible for ingredient prep for future days, bread shaping, and lots (lots) of tidying and cleaning. Bakers must be comfortable:
- Waking up early
- Lifting 50 pound flour bags, heavy bins, and stacks of sheet pans
- Working on your feet throughout the day
This is physical work!
The following experience is helpful, but not required:
- Experience with knife work
- Experience with commercial prep work
- Experience with clean, organized work flow in a commercial kitchen setting
More important is who YOU are. We have trained many superb bakers. A good work ethic and curious attitude are qualities that stand out in new and seasoned team members.
