Responsibilities
- Dispense prescription medications accurately while ensuring compliance with all legal and safety standards
- Provide expert medication counseling, including patient education on proper usage, potential side effects, and storage instructions
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to optimize medication therapy outcomes, including reviewing medical histories and current treatments
- Manage inventory levels efficiently, including ordering, stock rotation, and compounding medications when necessary
- Utilize pharmacy software and electronic health record (EHR) systems to document prescriptions, patient interactions, and medication histories
- Administer immunizations and perform other clinical services such as medication therapy management and patient care consultations
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality while managing sensitive health information
Requirements
- Valid pharmacist license with current registration in the applicable jurisdiction
- Prior experience in LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy or critical care settings is highly desirable
- Demonstrated clinical pharmacy experience with a focus on patient service, assessment, and medical management
- Knowledge of pharmacy software systems, EMR/EHR platforms, and inventory management tools
- Skills in compounding medications, aseptic techniques, IV infusion procedures, and sterile compounding are preferred
- Experience with hospital or acute care environments, including pain management and pediatrics, is a plus
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medication administration protocols
- Ability to perform IV insertion and infusion procedures accurately and safely
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and education; previous pharmacy technician experience is advantageous
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure confidentiality in all patient interactions
