Position Summary
The Blaster is responsible for preparing metal, concrete, and other surfaces by removing rust, paint, scale, and contaminants using abrasive blasting equipment. The Blaster is responsible for safely preparing, loading, and executing blasting activities using approved explosive materials or abrasive blasting equipment. This role ensures surfaces are clean, smooth, and properly prepared for painting, coating, or finishing. The position requires strong attention to safety, detail, and quality standards. In this role, the Blaster will receive day-to-day direction from the Lead.

Duties and Responsibilities

Update work orders into next stations in real time as progress occurs.

Ensure all work in process matches Steelhead data for Work Order number, scope, materials used, and quantity.

Deplete material used within Steelhead as work progresses.

Perform assigned maintenance items in Steelhead, when applicable.

Operate sandblasting and abrasive blasting equipment to clean or prepare surfaces.

Set up blasting equipment, hoses, nozzles, and work areas following safety procedures.

Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to ensure quality standards are met.

Mix abrasive materials and monitor equipment for proper pressure and flow.

Follow all safety regulations, including PPE requirements (respirators, suits, gloves, etc.).
- Maintain, clean, and perform basic troubleshooting on blasting equipment.

Properly contain and dispose of blasting materials and dust waste.

Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical instructions.
- Work independently or as part of a surface preparation team.

Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience as a sandblaster or in industrial surface prep.
Ability to operate air compressors, blast pots, and abrasive blasting tools.
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Ability to lift-up to 50 pounds
Must be 18 years of age or older
