MedOp Solutions is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse for a travel assignment, a cardiovascular-focused campus. This high-acuity CVICU cares for critically ill cardiac patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical circulatory support, and post-cardiac surgical management.
The ideal candidate will have extensive CVICU experience, excellent critical thinking skills, and the ability to confidently manage complex cardiovascular patients in a fast-paced environment.

- Day shift assignment
- Post-cardiac surgery patients (after ICU admission from recovery)
- CABG patients
- Valve replacement and repair
- LVAD/RVAD patients
- Pre- and post-cardiac catheterization/intervention
- Cardiogenic shock
- Acute stroke/CVA
- Multi-system organ failure
- Respiratory failure requiring advanced ventilatory support
- Provide comprehensive critical care nursing for cardiovascular ICU patients
- Perform advanced hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
- Manage mechanical circulatory support devices
- Administer and titrate vasoactive medications and cardiac drips
- Monitor ventilated patients and advanced respiratory support therapies
- Collaborate with intensivists, cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and the multidisciplinary care team
- Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition
- Document all patient care accurately using EPIC
Candidates must have experience with:
- CABG recovery
- Post-cardiac surgery care
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
- Impella devices
- Pulmonary Artery (Swan-Ganz) catheter monitoring
- LVAD/RVAD management
- CVVHD/CRRT
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia management
- Multi-system organ failure
- Thermoregulation management
- Pre/Post Cardiac Cath patients
- Valve replacement and repair patients
- Arterial line management
- Central line and PICC line management
- Blood product administration
- IV therapy and vascular access
- Continuous sedation and paralytic infusions
- Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration
- Emergency medication administration
- Procedural sedation
- Stroke/CVA management
- Lumbar drains
- Ventilator management
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
- BiPAP and CPAP management
- ABG interpretation
- Airway suctioning (ETT and nasotracheal)
- Infection prevention and isolation precautions
- Surgical wound and wound VAC management
- Phlebotomy
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse license
- Minimum of 3 years of recent CVICU experience
- EPIC experience required
- Active BLS (CPR)
- ACLS
- NIHSS certification
- Must successfully pass an EKG exam with a score of 80% or higher prior to submission
- Charge nurse experience preferred (please indicate if applicable)
- EMR: EPIC
- Advanced hemodynamic monitoring systems
- Mechanical circulatory support devices
- Critical care ventilators
Candidates must be willing to float, if needed, to:
- Glenbrook MICU
- Evanston ICU
- Highland Park ICU
- 12-hour Day and Night Shifts
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Holiday coverage required (including Memorial Day)
