What You'll Do
As a Third Shift Youth Care Worker, you will help ensure the safety, well-being, and success of young adults and their children participating in YSB's Transitional Living Programs. This is an awake overnight position responsible for maintaining a safe environment while also completing administrative, facility, and program support tasks.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently overnight while balancing client support, safety monitoring, documentation, facility upkeep, and program operations. The Third Shift Youth Care Worker plays an essential role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-functioning environment for young adults working toward independent living.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct overnight unit checks to ensure clients are in their apartments/rooms, following program expectations.
- Verify that unauthorized guests are not present and that clients are following program rules.
- Recheck authorized guests backgrounds every 3-6 months to verify they are still eligible to visit.
- Document unit checks, client interactions, incidents, and communication logs.
- Respond appropriately to client needs, emergencies, and crises.
- Utilize trauma-informed care and positive youth development practices during all client interactions.
- Travel between program locations to complete overnight responsibilities.
- Answer and respond to calls and messages on the program phone.
- Contact on-call staff when emergencies or significant concerns arise.
- Participate in random fire and safety drills.
- Enforce program expectations, policies, and house rules.
- Monitor the environment of care and report maintenance or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Assemble furniture or other items as needed.
- Prepare vacant apartments/rooms for new move-ins after residents exit the program.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness of common areas and shared program spaces and delegating tasks to clients and supervising work if needed.
- Maintain organization of program storage areas, pantries, and supplies.
- Complete inventories and assist with Federal program compliance which may include file audits, compiling documents and other preparations
- Update HMIS, assessments, and other required documentation.
- Review client program feedback for program quality control and improvement.
- Prepare materials and spaces for life skills groups and program activities.
- Participate in cross-training opportunities within the agency.
- Complete additional administrative duties assigned by the supervisor. Look for ways to engage youth in programming in ways that are non-punitive.
Requirements
Education: High School Diploma
Experience:
- Experience working with youth, young adults, and social services
