About the Position
North Bay Vitreoretinal Consultants, Inc. is a busy, multi-physician private retina practice in Santa Rosa. We are seeking a Registered Nurse RN to join our clinical team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an RN who enjoys patient care but is looking for the benefits of working in a private medical practice with a predictable daytime schedule. The position offers a consistent schedule with weekday hours: no nights, weekends, or holidays. Some overtime may be required based on patient care and practice needs.
You’ll work closely with our registered nurse, physicians, patients, and clinical staff Ophthalmology experience is not required but helpful. We are looking for a nurse who is organized, dependable, comfortable working independently, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Educate patients and family members regarding surgical procedures and pre-operative and post-operative instructions to help ensure a safe and well-coordinated surgical experience.
- Obtain and document surgical consent from patients or their authorized representatives.
- Coordinate and schedule surgical cases, including transmitting patient information, physician orders, and required documentation to surgical facilities.
- Administer medications and perform IV procedures and other diagnostic measures safely and accurately in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
- Administer intravenous dye and medications for in-office diagnostic testing and procedures.
- Monitor patients and maintain awareness of their comfort and safety during clinical procedures.
- Document relevant nursing history, assessments, medications, and clinical care in the patient’s medical record.
- Assist physicians and technical staff with medical procedures as needed.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations in accordance with nursing standards, policies, and established protocols.
- Work collaboratively with our other RN and members of the clinical team to support efficient patient care and office operations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current and unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current BLS certification
- General professional RN experience
- Strong clinical judgment and patient-care skills
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain attention to detail in a busy medical practice
- Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, physicians, clinical staff, and patients
Preferred:
- Current ACLS certification
- Previous ophthalmology or retina experience is not required, but desired

Schedule and Compensation
- Pay Scale: $42.00 per hour - $45.00 per hour
- Schedule: 3–5 days per week
- Typical hours: 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
- Some overtime may be required based on patient care and practice needs
- No nights, weekends, or holidays
