Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Certified Surgical First Assistant to join our dynamic team. Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the surgeon's first assistant during orthopedic surgical procedures.
- Position and prepare patients for surgery.
- Ensure proper exposure of the surgical site through appropriate use of retractors, suctioning, and tissue handling.
- Assist with other techniques as directed by the surgeon.
- Perform wound closure, including suturing, stapling, and dressing application within scope of practice.
- Assist with casting, splinting, and application of orthopedic devices.
- Anticipate surgeon needs and provide instruments, implants, and supplies proactively.
- Review patient history and surgical plans prior to procedures.
- Assist with patient positioning to ensure safety and prevent injury.
- Monitor the sterile field and maintain aseptic technique.
- Participate in post-operative care and patient transfer activities.
- Communicate any patient concerns or safety issues to the surgical team.
Clinical and Operational Responsibilities
- Scribe for the Physician during a clinical setting as required.
- Adhere to all OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and safety regulations.
- Participate in continuing education and department training activities.
- Other jobs assigned as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Current Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA), CSA, or equivalent credential.
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of operating-room experience preferred.
- Knowledge of orthopedic surgical procedures and instrumentation.
- Thorough understanding of sterile technique and infection prevention practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds with assistance as needed.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to handle surgical instruments and perform surgical assisting duties.
- Visual acuity necessary to observe surgical procedures and maintain patient safety.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $81,000.00 per year
