As a Food Service Associate, you'll be part of the team that brings the BEACON experience to life at UVA Newcomb Hall. No cooking is required, and there are no weekend shifts. Your role will focus on welcoming and assisting guests, serving and packaging prepared food, maintaining an inviting environment, and helping the team deliver excellent service.
What You'll Do
- Create a welcoming guest experience by greeting customers warmly, assisting with kiosk ordering and payment, answering menu and ingredient questions, and responding professionally to guest needs.
- Serve every order with care and accuracy by portioning, packaging, and presenting prepared food while helping maintain appropriate quality, freshness, and temperatures.
- Help keep BEACON ready for every guest by restocking food, beverages, supplies, and service materials and maintaining clean, organized, and inviting service and dining areas.
- Protect the quality and safety of the BEACON experience by following food safety, sanitation, allergen, opening, shift-change, and closing procedures.
- Be an engaged member of the team by supporting coworkers during busy periods, responding positively to changing needs, and representing BEACON Outpost with professionalism, energy, and pride.

Qualifications
- Customer service, hospitality, retail, or food service experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable assisting guests with touchscreen ordering technology.
- Ability to learn menu items, service procedures, and food safety requirements.
- Ability to obtain a Food Handler Certificate within the required timeframe.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and special events as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work safely around hot food, cold storage, and commercial kitchen equipment.
