Ballard-Mack Group, LLC is now hiring a qualified Pharmacy Technician to provide pharmacy support services at FCI Gilmer, a Federal Bureau of Prisons correctional institution located in Glenville, West Virginia. This position supports a federal contract with the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and offers the opportunity to work alongside licensed healthcare professionals in a secure clinical environment.
The selected candidate will assist the Staff Pharmacist with medication preparation, inventory management, medication dispensing, quality assurance activities, and pharmacy operations while ensuring compliance with Bureau of Prisons policies, federal regulations, and established standards of care.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Pay: $20.00 per hour
- Health & Welfare (H&W) Fringe Benefit: $5.55 per hour
- Total Compensation: $25.55 per hour
The Health & Welfare (H&W) Fringe Benefit is a federally mandated benefit under the Service Contract Act (SCA). This benefit is provided in addition to your hourly wage and may be applied toward employer-sponsored health insurance or paid directly as additional taxable wages, depending on eligibility and company policy.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program with a completed internship (certificate or diploma required)
- Minimum of one (1) year of hands-on Pharmacy Technician experience
- Current, unexpired Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Certification
- U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident actively pursuing U.S. citizenship
- Must have lived in the United States for at least three (3) of the last five (5) years
- No felony convictions under federal or state law
- Ability to successfully pass a Department of Justice Public Trust Background Investigation
- Available to begin the background investigation process immediately following contract award
- Reliable transportation and ability to commute to or relocate near Glenville, West Virginia
- Comfortable working inside a federal correctional institution (required)
- Willing to comply with facility dress requirements (khaki and green clothing are prohibited while on site)
- Free of communicable diseases and willing to complete TB screening or provide recent TB documentation if requested
Correctional healthcare experience is preferred but is not required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Pharmacy Technician will:
- Assist the Staff Pharmacist with ordering, stocking, storing, and dispensing prescription and non-prescription medications
- Maintain pharmacy inventory, crash carts, emergency medication bags, and automated dispensing systems
- Monitor medication expiration dates and perform inventory audits
- Maintain narcotics, medication, and syringe inventories
- Prepare medication cards and unit-dose medications
- Assist with pharmacy Quality Assurance activities
- Maintain pharmacy records and documentation within the Bureau of Prisons electronic medical record system
- Schedule appointments, scan documents, answer telephones, file records, and perform other administrative support duties as assigned
Work Environment
This position is performed inside a Federal Bureau of Prisons correctional institution. Employees will have professional interaction with inmates while performing pharmacy-related duties but will not supervise inmates or Bureau of Prisons staff.
Candidates must be comfortable working in a secure correctional environment and comply with all institutional security procedures, confidentiality requirements, and professional conduct standards.
Federal Background Investigation
Candidates selected for this position must successfully complete a Department of Justice Public Trust Background Investigation before beginning employment.
The investigation includes:
- DOJ e-QIP security questionnaire
- FBI fingerprinting
- Employment, education, and residence verification
- Credit history review
- Federal employment eligibility documentation
Employment cannot begin until written authorization is issued by the Federal Bureau of Prisons following a favorable background adjudication. Candidates should expect the clearance process to take several weeks.
