Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on R&D Formulator to support our fast-growing, innovation-driven pet supplement business, with a strong focus on powder and liquid food toppers for dogs and cats. This role will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and scaling palatable, functional, and compliant formulations that meet both pet nutritional requirements and consumer expectations. Candidates with human supplement formulation experience who can translate knowledge into pet applications are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and optimize pet supplement formulations including powders and liquid/oil-based toppers
· Ensure formulations meet nutritional, palatability, stability, and cost objectives
· Conduct bench-top development, pilot trials, and manufacturing scale-up
· Source and evaluate raw materials for functionality, safety, and cost
· Ensure compliance with AAFCO, FDA, and pet supplement regulations
· Collaborate with QA to develop specifications, batch records, and documentation
· Partner with Sales, Marketing, Procurement, and Operations on product development
· Troubleshoot formulation and production issues
· Perform stability studies, shelf-life validation, and testing
· Maintain accurate formulation data, specifications, and records
· Manage multiple R&D projects and timelines
· Maintain lab equipment, inventory, and GMP compliance
Qualifications
· Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Nutrition, Chemistry, or related field
· 3+ years of experience in product development or formulation
· Strong knowledge of ingredient functionality and formulation science
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
· Preferred:
· Experience in pet supplements, pet food, or animal nutrition
· Knowledge of AAFCO guidelines and pet product regulations
· Experience with powder and liquid formulation systems
· Ability to translate human supplement formulation into pet applications
