Independent Contractor Delivery Driver

Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, professional, and customer-focused Independent Contractor Delivery Driver to provide safe, timely, and compliant delivery of medical cannabis products to registered patients throughout the Biddeford area of Maine. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality while following all applicable Maine Office of Cannabis Policy (OCP) regulations.
As an independent contractor, you will use your own insured vehicle and be responsible for managing your schedule in coordination with the dispensary's delivery operations.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport medical cannabis products to registered patients in accordance with Maine state regulations and company policies.
- Verify patient identity and required documentation at the time of delivery.
- Maintain accurate delivery records and complete all required paperwork or electronic documentation.
- Handle all products, cash, and electronic payments securely and accurately.
- Follow established delivery routes while maintaining flexibility for schedule changes.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient information and deliveries.
- Communicate professionally with patients and dispensary staff regarding delivery status and scheduling.
- Report any delivery issues, accidents, or compliance concerns immediately.
- Ensure all products remain secure during transport.
- Maintain a clean, reliable, and roadworthy vehicle.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid Maine driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Need a RIC card from the Office of Cannabis Policy.
- Reliable personal vehicle with current registration and proof of insurance.
- Ability to pass any background screening required under Maine cannabis regulations.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to navigate using GPS and delivery software.
- Dependable, punctual, and organized.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Comfortable working independently.
Contractor Requirements
- Maintain your own vehicle, insurance, fuel, and maintenance expenses.
- Maintain a smartphone capable of using GPS and delivery applications.
- Follow all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding the transportation of medical cannabis.
- Represent the dispensary professionally while interacting with patients and the public.
Compensation
- Competitive per-delivery or hourly contractor rate (to be discussed during the interview process).
- Mileage or delivery incentives may be available.
- Flexible scheduling based on business needs.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent driving throughout the workday.
- Ability to enter and exit a vehicle repeatedly.
- Ability to carry delivery bags weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
