Looking for a job that's different? We're looking for talented, enthusiastic people to join our team! We've been in business for over 8 years and have grown exponentially in that time, which means that we're always on the lookout for people who want to be a part of this. And what is this?
Well, we buy, sell, and trade video games, trading card games, and sports cards, but there's a lot more to it than that. We've developed and maintained a community here, and that means something to us. This isn't a place where you'll end up stagnant; if you're willing to put the work in, the sky is the limit. You will have the opportunity to grow (and help the store grow, too) here and help shape the future of this store. If that sounds like something interesting, keep reading!
As a game advisor, you'll be responsible for the following:
- Greeting customers and providing any assistance they need, including where items are located in the store
- Performing transactions for any customer purchase, including sports cards, trading cards, video games, etc.
- Communicating to customers so they know about any current or upcoming sales, promotions, or events
- Checking in event attendees and inputting their information into organized play software
- Being able to check inventory of items in the GameSmart POS
- Responding to Facebook communications; answering basic messages and questions
- Buying video games and trading cards using the GameSmart Point of Sale system, supervised as needed; putting away those items appropriately in their respective locations; cleaning video game consoles, resetting them as needed, and making sure they’re in operable condition
- Filling the cooler with drinks, taking out trash, breaking down boxes
- Cleaning the store, including dusting, vacuuming, glass, mopping, etc.
- Pulling TCGplayer lists for in-store orders
- Restocking and organizing the store throughout the day as directed by Senior Game Advisors or the Retail Manager
- Assisting the Retail Manager, General Manager, or Owner in achieving goals for the store
- Ensuring the store is well-represented
- Communicating honestly and openly with coworkers and managers
- All other duties as assigned
As far as skills, we're looking for someone with (or that can obtain):
- Passion for community development
- Understanding of the store’s functions and the products it carries
- Customer service
- General knowledge of anything the store carries, including sports cards, trading cards, and video games; store layout knowledge to be able to assist and upsell customers
- Basic math skills and the ability to use a cash register and Point of Sale system
- Patience and level-headedness when dealing with difficult situations
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Workplace professionalism and being respectful
- Being able to clearly communicate verbal or written ideas, notes, or reports to other members of staff
- The ability to handle cash
- Above average attention to detail
- Basic proficiency in any programs the store currently uses (Microsoft Office, Quicklist, TCGplayer, etc.)
We're looking for someone who can jump right into this, but that doesn't necessarily mean you have to have all the professional experience in the world to be considered. We're willing to train the right person and give them the skills they need to succeed in a buy, sell, trade environment. If this sounds like something you might enjoy, apply with us!
