Granby Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and dynamic school social worker to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The position will be split between Granby Memorial High School and the Granby Alternative Program.
The social worker will provide individual and group counseling services to students who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social difficulties. The Social Worker will also respond to immediate emotional or behavioral crisis, providing intervention and support to students in need. This includes helping students manage trauma, grief, self-harm, or other urgent mental health concerns.
School Social Workers are trained mental health professionals who can assist with mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, positive behavioral support, academic, and classroom support, consultation with teachers, parents, and administrators as well as provide individual and group counseling/therapy. In addition, the School Social Worker communicates with parents; provides social/emotional/behavioral support and or consultation to maximize the students' learning experience. The social worker will build positive relationships and collaborate with students, parents, and staff to foster a supportive learning environment.
Essential Functions:

Adhere to the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibility

Ensures safety of students

Implements the Granby Board of Education and administrative policies, rules, regulations and directives

Provides case management services including, but not limited to, referrals to community resources, collaboration with other professionals

Advocates for student services and students’ best interests

Maintains accurate and complete records as required

Provides direct therapeutic services such as individual, family or group therapy regarding specific issues

Conducts home visits to foster good engagement with students and families

Attends parent/teacher conferences as needed

Assess student learning on continual basis and identifies areas of intervention if needed

Maintains respect for confidential information

Design instruction to meet the needs of all students through both individual and small group settings as needed

Maintain a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between the educator and learner
Qualifications:
CT School Social Worker (#071) certification
