Job Overview
You will bridge the gap between clinical care and patient coordination. Your primary focus will be conducting specialized diagnostic testing and managing patient referrals. Key Responsibilities
Specialized Testing: Operate advanced diagnostic equipment including OCT, visual fields, retinal photography, and auto-refractors.
Referral Coordination: Manage outgoing patient referrals to specialists, track documentation, and communicate with external medical offices.
Front Desk Support: Assist with answering multi-line phones, scheduling appointments, and checking in/out patients.
Office Flow: Help maintain clean testing areas and ensure a smooth transition for patients throughout their visit.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of patient care practices, including intake procedures and vital signs measurement.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Experience with optical equipment, ophthalmology procedures, and clinic operations is highly desirable. (Preferred not required)
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Officemate/Eyefinity or other medical record software.
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic concepts to assist clinicians effectively.
- Ability to perform aseptic techniques diligently during clinical procedures.
- Previous medical office experience involving medical billing, coding, and records management is a plus.
