Job Summary
The Theatre Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities required to supervise, run, maintain and service all aspects of our theatre, equipment, and theatrical events, ensuring that the production needs are met for the venue, client and patrons.
The Stafford Centre is a 28-million-dollar multi-purpose center with an 1,100-seat performing arts theatre and 25,000 square feet of convention/multi use space located between Houston and Sugar Land in Fort Bend County.
Responsibilities
- Analyze technical information for all clients renting the Stafford Centre theatre and advance performances.
- Assist clients in developing and executing a plan to fulfill riders, advances, labor calls and equipment for theatre productions.
- Communicate technical information and schedules to theatre staff and contract laborers.
- Work closely with clients to manage their expectations and assist them in creating the best possible performance while maintaining a high degree of safety in line with all safety codes.
- Coordinate production’s in-house audio-visual needs for theater performances.
- Assist in the use of house audio-visual equipment for convention center events.
- Create and update a maintenance & inspection schedule for theatrical systems and equipment.
- Facilitate scheduling and training of part-time production employees.
- Supervise house management, building employees and contracted labor force for productions as required.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Skills
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills are critical.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the equipment and industry terminology related to theatre staging, audio, lighting, rigging, and video.
- Must be able to understand and enforce all laws, building codes, ordinances, policies & procedures.
- Must be able to effectively communicate complicated lighting, sound, and rigging concepts to promoters/clients, regardless of their level of expertise.
- Ability to work with varied personalities and maintain a professional work environment.
- Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to meet time deadlines.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
- Must be able to work effectively under pressure and produce accurate results.
Requirements
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for long periods, walk long distances, and lift minimum of 50 pounds.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) required. Proficiency in Vectorworks and QLab is a positive.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Subject to testing requirements and drug screening.
