Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Farm Operations Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of farm activities, ensuring efficient, safe, and sustainable operations. In this role, you will coordinate daily farm tasks, supervise staff, manage equipment and animal care, and implement best practices in agriculture and horticulture. Your leadership will drive productivity, uphold safety standards, and promote a thriving farm environment that supports growth and innovation.
Duties
- Supervise farm staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management to ensure a motivated and skilled team.
- Oversee daily farm operations such as planting, harvesting, animal husbandry, irrigation, and greenhouse management.
- Maintain and repair farm machinery and equipment using mechanical knowledge, welding skills, hand tools, power tools, and basic math for troubleshooting.
- Manage animal care routines including feeding, handling, health monitoring, and ensuring proper shelter for livestock and equine animals.
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and other heavy machinery safely to support planting, harvesting, transportation, and maintenance activities.
- Implement irrigation systems and horticultural practices to optimize crop growth while adhering to sustainable farming principles.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, enforce safety protocols for heavy lifting and equipment operation, and maintain accurate records of farm activities.
- Coordinate with suppliers for farm supplies and ensure compliance with agricultural regulations.
Experience
- Proven supervising experience in farm or agricultural settings with strong leadership skills.
- Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery repair, equipment maintenance, welding, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with animal husbandry including livestock management and equine care.
- Familiarity with farming techniques such as crop growing practices, greenhouse operations, irrigation systems, horticulture methods, and greenhouses.
- Ability to operate forklifts and heavy equipment safely; certification preferred.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, basic math for measurements and calculations related to farming tasks.
- Experience in animal handling across various species; understanding of animal health needs is a plus.
