Barbour Corporation is a private, family-owned manufacturing company located in Brockton, MA. Its subsidiary, Barbour Welting Company, is a manufacturer of leather and plastic shoe welting, a component of shoes used by manufacturers of high-end footwear worldwide. We are looking to hire a full-time experienced stitcher/sewing machine operator who has worked in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Job description
- Set up, monitor, and maintain industrial sewing machine
- Ensure product meets precise customer specifications, quality standards, and delivery deadlines
- Read job tickets to understand specifications
- Set up and adjust sewing machine components, including pockets, gatherers, stitcher heads and three-knife trimmers for exact height, width, and thickness.
- Inspect finished materials for defects
- Work with supervisor/manager to ensure an efficient workflow
- Taking inventory of various threads used in the department
Skills
- Ability to speak and write effectively
- Ability to read work orders to determine specific job requirements
- Must have a strong attention to detail
- Must be mechanically inclined and able to fix stitching machines when they break down or need adjustments
- Ability to adjust sewing techniques and stitch types
- Ability to follow design schematics
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Understanding of how to operate various industrial and commercial sewing machines
- Ability to inspect machines, adjust tension settings, thread needles, change bobbins, oil moving parts, and perform basic repairs to prevent workflow interruptions
- Troubleshoot minor problems and perform basic preventative maintenance
Hours
- Monday – Thursday 530am – 330pm
Rate
- $21.00 hour -90 day introductory and review period
