About the Role
As Site Superintendent / Lead Carpenter, you'll oversee daily field operations on multiple custom residential projects while also performing skilled carpentry work when needed. You'll coordinate subcontractors, maintain project schedules, uphold quality standards, and help deliver projects that exceed our clients' expectations.
This role requires someone who is equally comfortable leading a jobsite, mentoring others, communicating with clients, and picking up the tools to solve problems.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily field operations on custom home and luxury remodeling projects.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and Island Crest Builders field staff.
- Maintain project schedules and proactively identify potential delays.
- Monitor project budgets and communicate scope changes or unforeseen conditions.
- Ensure work is completed according to architectural plans, specifications, and company quality standards.
- Perform skilled carpentry including framing, finish carpentry, installation, repairs, punch work, and problem-solving in the field.
- Read and interpret architectural, structural, and shop drawings.
- Assist Project Managers with construction planning, layout, sequencing, and coordination.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, local building codes, and company safety policies.
- Conduct quality control inspections throughout construction.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, architects, designers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members.
- Help create an exceptional client experience from start to finish.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of residential construction experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience supervising custom residential construction projects.
- Journey-level carpenter or completion of a recognized apprenticeship (or equivalent field experience).
- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, and building systems.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Excellent organization, planning, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Proficient using smartphones, tablets, and construction management software. Experience with Builder Trend is a plus
- Experience with Buildertrend (or similar project management software) is preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred but not required.
