The Dr. John Earl Medical Ministry Clinic, a ministry of Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry (GHCCM), is a mission-driven, free and charitable clinic (NCAFCC) providing high-quality, compassionate healthcare to underserved and uninsured individuals in our community. Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to delivering culturally competent, patient-centered care in a respectful, inclusive, and compassionate environment.
Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated part-time mobile Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Primary Care Physician to join our clinic team. This individual will provide comprehensive primary care to underserved and uninsured patients in both our clinic and mobile clinic settings and will work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, community partners, and other healthcare professionals to address the medical, social, and overall wellness needs of our patients.
Work Hours
Tuesday-Thursday, 8AM-Noon (capped at 15 hours per week)
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct comprehensive patient assessments in the clinic and through our mobile clinic unit, including outreach to adjacent counties.
· Diagnose and treat common acute and chronic medical conditions.
· Develop individualized treatment plans and prescribe medications as appropriate and within the provider's scope of practice.
· Provide preventive care, health education, chronic disease management, and appropriate follow-up care.
· Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to underserved individuals and families.
· Document complete, accurate, and timely patient encounter information in the EMR.
· Build positive relationships with patients, families, community partners, and other stakeholders.
· Participate in community outreach events, health fairs, and educational programs that promote health and wellness.
· Precept medical students and provide clinical guidance and educational mentorship throughout their rotations.
· Participate in quality improvement initiatives and other activities that support the clinic's mission and commitment to excellent patient care.
Qualifications
· Current, unrestricted North Carolina medical or advanced practice license appropriate to the position.
· Board certification or eligibility appropriate to the provider's discipline.
· DEA registration, if applicable to the position.
· Two years of clinical experience preferred, particularly experience working with underserved or vulnerable populations.
· Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and clinical skills.
· Compassionate, patient-centered approach to healthcare.
· Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred.
· Commitment to cultural competence, diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare delivery.
· Passion for serving underserved populations and addressing health disparities.
· Willingness to embrace GHCCM's mission, values, and commitment to providing compassionate, holistic care to individuals and families in need.
· Fluent in Spanish and English preferred but not required
Licensure & Certification Requirements
· For Nurse Practitioners: Current, unrestricted North Carolina Nurse Practitioner license/certification and national board certification.
· For Physician Assistants: Current, unrestricted North Carolina Physician Assistant license and NCCPA certification.
· For Physicians: Current, unrestricted North Carolina medical license and board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine, or another appropriate primary care specialty.
· DEA registration, as applicable.
· Current BLS certification preferred.
