Position Overview
Noel Technologies, a leading provider of specialty thin film deposition and precision surface processing services, is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Quality Control Inspector to join our team in Campbell, CA.
In this role, you will be integral to maintaining the high-quality standards our customers rely on for mission-critical specialty devices. You will perform thorough inspections, manage non-conformance tracking, and serve as a key link between quality data and customer communication.
NOTE: This position is initially offered on a contract to hire basis, employment may be concluded at any time during this period. This arrangement provides an opportunity for both the candidate and Noel Technologies to assess mutual fit. Successful candidates may be considered for conversion to a permanent employee status following the completion of the contract period.
Shift Schedule (2 open roles)
- Monday-Friday, from 4:00am-12:30pm
- Monday-Friday, from 12:30pm-9:00pm
Training Schedule
- Monday-Friday, from 6:30am-3:00pm
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed inspections on specialty devices and precision components to ensure conformance to customer and internal specifications.
- Measure thin films and surface coatings for conformance using appropriate metrology equipment and established measurement techniques.
- Identify, document, and track non-conformances throughout the production process using the company's quality management system.
- Compile and organize inspection data and quality records for customer reporting and internal review.
- Analyze non-conforming material and recommend corrective and preventive actions, disposition options, or engineering solutions.
- Communicate inspection results, non-conformance status, and quality concerns to account managers and relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor and maintain the calibration status of inspection and measuring equipment; identify and report calibration issues or out-of-tolerance conditions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying trends in non-conformances and inspection data.
- Maintain accurate and organized inspection records, calibration logs, and QC documentation in compliance with ISO and customer requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, and customer service teams to resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
- Inspect samples of product and accompanying paperwork on outgoing material to verify conformance and accuracy prior to shipment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Physics, Materials Science, Engineering Technology, or related) preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a quality control or inspection role within a precision manufacturing, semiconductor, optics, or thin film environment.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders.
- Experience with metrology tools and inspection equipment (profilometers, ellipsometers, optical comparators, CMMs, or similar).
- Familiarity with non-conformance tracking systems and corrective action processes (8D, CAPA, or equivalent).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for data compilation and reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in thin film deposition processes (PVD, CVD, ALD, sputtering, evaporation, or similar).
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management systems.
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or equivalent certification.
- Experience working in a customer-facing or cross-functional quality role.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a controlled cleanroom and laboratory environment; adherence to cleanroom protocols and gowning requirements is mandatory.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform fine motor tasks requiring visual acuity and hand-eye coordination.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs may be required.
- Must be able to work with and near chemicals used in surface processing operations, in compliance with EHS policies.
Pay: $24.00 - $29.00 per hour
