American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY RN license in hand, charge experience, and Epic proficiency for a high-volume tertiary care unit.

Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a 528-bed tertiary care hospital in Rochester, NY
-
Complex care unit serving medicine, ortho overflow, and complex long-term patients
-
Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7, with experience at a 1:6 ratio required
-
On-unit telemetry monitoring performed
-
Epic EMR is used for charting
-
13-week contract with possibility of extension
-
Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Every other weekend required
-
Floating is required
-
Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility

Active NY RN license currently in hand — no exceptions
-
Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; valid NIHSS cert must be provided for consideration

Minimum 1 year of RN experience required

Charge nurse experience required

Epic EMR experience required

Experience with patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:7 in a Med/Surg setting

Proficiency with the following skills: MS/Tele, on-unit telemetry monitoring, rapid response/code team protocols, temporary and permanent pacemakers, feeding tube care and management, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, peripheral line and PICC line management, IV starts, heparin protocols, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drains, HFNC, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac

This is a high-volume unit requiring the ability to manage a variable patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7

Charge nurse responsibilities are part of the role

Navy scrub bottoms with navy or white tops required

All time-off requests must be submitted prior to placement

First-time travelers are considered provided they meet the patient ratio experience requirement
