CUSTODIAL TEAM LEAD
JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Custodial Team Lead
REPORTS TO: Shelter Manager
JOB TYPE: Full-time, 1 Shift
JOB OVERVIEW: The Custodial Team Lead (CTL) shall maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment throughout the facility. The CTL shall oversee the Custodial Team and their duties, monitor facility cleanliness standards, coordinate routine and deep cleaning schedules, and ensure proper use and storage of cleaning equipment and supplies. The CTL shall lead by example, provide training and guidance to custodial staff and resident workers, and respond to facility maintenance and sanitation concerns in a timely manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Maintain and reinforce cleanliness, sanitation, and safety practices in daily operations.
- Oversee, train, and support members of the Custodial Team, ensuring assigned duties are completed thoroughly and efficiently.
- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules for all facility areas.
- Conduct inspections of resident living areas, common spaces, offices, restrooms, dining areas, and grounds.
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, paper products, and equipment.
- Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of custodial equipment and cleaning chemicals.
- Assist in addressing spills, sanitation concerns, biohazard cleanup, and other cleanliness issues.
- Coordinate and participate in deep-cleaning projects and seasonal cleaning initiatives.
- Complete required logs, inspection reports, work orders, and other documentation.
- Train custodial staff and resident workers on cleaning techniques, equipment operation, and workplace safety.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns, facility damage, and safety hazards.
- Assist with room turnovers and preparation of guest rooms for new admissions.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and professional conduct among custodial team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous custodial, housekeeping, janitorial, or facilities management experience preferred.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation standards, and safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, residents, volunteers, and visitors.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and remain standing or walking for the majority of the shift.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
