Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our emergency response team working at Rio Tinto Kennecott Copper Mine. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in emergency medicine, trauma care, and patient assessment, with the ability to deliver critical care in high-pressure situations. As an EMT, you will be responsible for providing immediate medical assistance, stabilizing patients, and ensuring safe transportation to healthcare facilities. Shift:
- Sunday (13 hour day shift) 6:45 am - 7:45 pm
Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, assessing situations quickly and accurately to determine appropriate medical interventions.
- Provide advanced patient care including airway management, vital signs monitoring, trauma stabilization, and medication administration.
- Operate and maintain medical equipment such as DME (Durable Medical Equipment), suction devices, and monitors with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Perform physical examinations and patient assessments to identify injuries or illnesses requiring urgent attention.
- Execute critical care procedures including venipuncture, injection administration, neonatal resuscitation procedures, and trauma care protocols.
- Manage incident command during emergencies, coordinating efforts with other first responders and healthcare providers.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, including proper use of medical terminology, infection control practices, and heavy lifting techniques during patient transport.
- Administer drug and alcohol testing as needed
Skills
- Extensive experience in emergency medicine with a focus on trauma and critical care transport.
- Proven proficiency in airway management, vital signs assessment, and trauma medicine techniques.
- Strong background in hospital settings with experience in emergency rooms or Level I/II trauma centers.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pediatric emergency care, and neonatal resuscitation procedures.
- Skilled in incident command systems, patient assessment, and triage processes under pressure.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medication administration protocols, venipuncture, and medical equipment operation.
- Ability to perform physical examinations efficiently while maintaining aseptic technique standards.
- Excellent driving skills combined with the physical strength required for heavy lifting during patient transfers.
