JOB SUMMARY
The Shipping/Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all inbound and outbound logistics operations, ensuring timely shipments, accurate receipts, and efficient inventory management. This role plays a key part in driving the business forward by optimizing processes, implementing lean principles, and maintaining high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and workplace organization. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in using technology, including ERP systems, to manage transactions and improve operations. The role reports directly to the Manufacturing Manager and will ultimately expand to have conveyance and/or manufacturing leadership responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Shipping & Receiving Operations: Ensure timely and accurate shipments to customers and on-time receipts from suppliers to support production and fulfillment goals.
o Freight Quoting: Responsible for an accurate and timely freight quoting process to support the Customer and Sales Operation’s needs.
o Freight Quoting: Enter, manage, and track closure of freight claims.
o Records: Prepare records of good shipped, such as bills of load; calculate and review weight and shipping charges and keep files of shipping records in TMS and other databases.

Inventory Accuracy & Storage Optimization: Maintain accurate inventory records by verifying counts and ensuring materials are stored in designated locations.
o Labeling & Identification: Ensure proper labeling of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to maintain traceability and efficiency.
o Records: Maintain accurate record keeping of all off site storage, including transactions and transfers.

ERP & Technology Utilization: Use ERP systems and related technology to process shipments, receipts, and inventory transactions efficiently.

Lean & Continuous Improvement: Apply lean principles to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve material flow within the facility.

5S & Workplace Organization: Implement and sustain 5S methodology to ensure a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.

KPI Management: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time shipments, receiving accuracy, inventory discrepancies, and warehouse efficiency.

Team Leadership & Training: Lead and develop the shipping/receiving team, fostering a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

Compliance & Safety: Ensure all shipping and receiving activities adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and workplace safety standards.
o Safety: Ensure all employees and external vendors comply with company PPE requirements.
o Export: Responsible for export compliance including NAFTA certificates and documents.

Supplier & Carrier Coordination: Work closely with suppliers, freight carriers, and internal teams to resolve shipping/receiving issues and maintain smooth logistics operations.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred OR a minimum of 3 years related experience in Manufacturing, Materials, Purchasing, or Logistics along with a 2–5-year leadership experience.

Experience or proven capability within ERP systems to use reports and navigate company information for problem solving.

Proficient use of personal computers and computer operation within a network environment.

Experience in leading a team or projects using Lean Manufacturing principles.
