As our Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), you'll play an integral role in ensuring safe, coordinated, and high-quality medical care for clients at both Lucent Recovery (mental health program) and Empowered (eating disorder program).
Lucent Recovery provides PHP and IOP services for adults experiencing primary mental health conditions and eating disorders in Austin, TX. The LVN will work closely with our psychiatric provider and treatment team to provide direct nursing care, monitor client medical stability, coordinate laboratory services, administer medications, support medication management, and ensure accurate medical documentation. This position is ideal for an organized, clinically skilled nurse who thrives in a collaborative behavioral health setting and is comfortable working with moderate- to high-acuity clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and document vital signs, orthostatic vitals, height, weight, and nursing assessments.
- Administer prescribed medications and injectable medications within LVN scope of practice.
- Perform 12-lead EKG acquisition, lab draws, UA workflows, specimen collection, and specimen handling.
- Monitor clients for medication side effects, adverse reactions, and changes in medical status.
- Track and coordinate required laboratory testing for Lucent and EmpowerED clients.
- Support medication refill requests, pharmacy communication, prior authorizations, and provider escalation.
- Coordinate psychiatric provider appointments, follow-up visits, and ongoing scheduling needs.
- Complete accurate nursing documentation and medication administration records within the EMR.
- Maintain medical supplies, medication inventory, clinical spaces, and infection control standards.
- Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, dietitians, admissions, and operations staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Assist with medical emergencies and implement nursing interventions as appropriate.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Current Texas Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in good standing.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Experience with phlebotomy, laboratory workflows, specimen handling, and 12-lead EKG acquisition.
- Experience with medication administration, medication refill workflows, pharmacy communication, and EMR documentation.
- Strong assessment, organization, and communication skills.
- Calm, professional, dependable, and comfortable working with mental health and eating disorder populations.
- Valid Texas driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, addiction treatment, or eating disorder treatment.
- Experience in PHP, IOP, residential, or outpatient behavioral healthcare settings.
- Familiarity with psychiatric medications and medical monitoring for eating disorders.
