General Manager (GM) — Tradewinds Fitness
ROLE SUMMARY
Tradewinds Fitness is seeking a full-time General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations, athlete experience, and overall studio growth of our strength-focused fitness community.
This is an operations, community, and leadership role — not just a front desk or administrative position.
The General Manager is responsible for:
- Leading the overall athlete experience from first interaction through long-term retention
- Managing studio operations, communication, and systems
- Supporting membership growth through consultations, nurturing, and relationship building
- Overseeing client engagement, retention systems, and community events
- Ensuring the facility operates smoothly, professionally, and with a high level of care
- Creating a welcoming, organized, and relationship-driven culture inside the studio

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES1. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, manage, and hold team members accountable to Tradewinds standards and systems
- Maintain operational consistency across the studio
- Support communication and collaboration between leadership, coaches, and staff
- Attend weekly leadership meetings and contribute to strategic planning
- Help maintain a positive, team-first culture
2. Athlete Experience & Retention
- Oversee and improve the client journey from onboarding through long-term membership
- Manage automated client communication and nurture systems
- Conduct weekly athlete check-ins and milestone celebrations
- Monitor attendance trends, low attendance clients, and at-risk memberships
- Create systems to improve retention and client engagement
- Oversee Athlete of the Month, recognition programs, anniversaries, and client appreciation initiatives
- Plan and execute internal challenges, events, and community-building activities
3. Sales & Membership Management
- Conduct intro consultations with prospective members
- Guide leads through the nurture and conversion process
- Manage membership upgrades, downgrades, holds, and cancellations
- Support membership growth initiatives and retention strategies
- Track membership KPIs and financial projections
- Assist in developing retail sales strategies for supplements and apparel
4. Communication & Marketing Support
- Manage internal communication including newsletters, schedule updates, announcements, and community updates
- Support marketing initiatives through email, social media, flyers, blog coordination, and Facebook group engagement
- Capture and share client success stories, testimonials, and studio culture moments
- Help maintain a strong and consistent brand presence
5. Facility & Operational Management
- Ensure the studio remains clean, organized, and fully operational
- Manage cleaning schedules, inventory, and facility supplies
- Coordinate with external cleaners and vendors
- Oversee equipment maintenance, repairs, and purchasing
- Perform daily spot cleaning and facility checks
6. Coaching & Floor Presence
- Coach group classes and personal training sessions as needed
- Provide coaching coverage when necessary
- Build strong relationships with athletes through a visible and engaged presence on the training floor
7. Reporting & Systems
- Generate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual operational reports
- Track client engagement and retention metrics
- Conduct annual operational and accounts receivable audits
- Help improve systems and workflows to increase operational efficiency
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2–3 years of management, operations, hospitality, fitness, or customer experience leadership preferred
- Fitness industry experience preferred but not required
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly detail-oriented and proactive
- Comfortable leading conversations and building relationships
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Passionate about health, fitness, and community
- Comfortable with technology, CRM systems, and communication platforms
- Group fitness coaching experience is a plus but not required
- CPR/AED certification preferred

COMPENSATION PLANBase Salary:
$55,000 – $70,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications

Total Expected Compensation:
$65,000 – $85,000+ annually depending on:
- Experience
- Coaching responsibilities
