Requirements
- 15-passenger Ford Transit Van (2018 or newer)
- Commercial auto insurance with a minimum of $300,000 liability coverage (or equivalent)
- Company will install GPS tracking
- Company will install onboard video cameras
- Company magnets/signage must remain on the vehicle during the contract
- Driver must wear the official EK4kids polo shirt
- Khaki pants are required while on duty
- Vehicle must be clean and well-maintained at all times
- Clean background check
- Valid driver's license
- Professional appearance
- Excellent communication skills
- Must live in New York
- Must love working with children
Contract Terms
- Semester or full school-year contract
- Security deposit required to reserve and secure the route
- Deposit is fully refundable at the end of the school-year contract, provided all contract terms are met
Route Details
- Morning school route
- Afternoon school route
- Operates according to the school calendar
- Multiple pickup and drop-off stops
- Dedicated route
- Safely operate a 15-passenger van following all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations.
- Transport students, staff, and authorized personnel to designated locations on schedule while adhering to school policies.
- Ensure passenger safety by conducting pre-trip inspections, monitoring behavior, and enforcing student discipline policies.
- Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies using defensive driving techniques and emergency response procedures for transportation.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and emergency responders as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, passenger counts, incident reports, and vehicle maintenance logs.
Experience
- Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation.
- Knowledge of transportation safety regulations, traffic laws, child care practices, and student behavior management.
- Familiarity with emergency stop procedures, vehicle codes, and state/local commercial driving laws.
- Experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly desirable.
- Multilingual skills or experience working with diverse communities are advantageous.
- Strong communication skills paired with excellent writing abilities to complete reports accurately.
