COMMAND CENTER OPERATOR (SHERIFF) April 7, 2021
Position Description Non-Exempt
OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB
To operate the Sheriff’s Office command center, determine appropriate responses, and coordinate necessary resources.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB
1. Monitors and uses access control, surveillance, duress, and other technology in command center ensuring the safety, physical security and orderly conduct of all individuals within and outside of courtrooms and County property.
2. Coordinates response of emergency services to the judicial center, courthouse complex, and other county buildings.
3. Maintains confidential files and procedure records as well as log sheets for Sheriff’s Office.
4. Enters job related information into applicable databases and reports, and processes various forms, reports and other Office related paperwork as required.
5. Must possess the knowledge of all paperwork involving the release, incarceration, and transportation of prisoners.
6. Utilizes equipment such as 2-way radios, computers, and other technology etc. as necessary to carry out essential job duties, and provides basic equipment maintenance.
7. Must be able to work well with the public and possess a professional demeanor at all times.
8. Must be able to complete the new hire training program, and on-boarding process.
9. Must be able to work with other agencies and communicate information with key stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
OTHER DUTIES OF JOB
1. Attends meetings, and seminars as required.
2. Successfully completes all Franklin County Sheriff internal training, as assigned.
3. Performs other job-related duties as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives instruction and supervision from the Sheriff, Chief Deputy Sheriff, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Corporal, or Deputy in Charge in regards to daily work duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Works in adequate workspace with adequate lighting and ventilation, but with fluctuations in temperatures.
2. Works with average exposure to stress, but subject to frequent disruptions and noise.
3. Normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt.
4. Works in conditions of potential outbursts of disruptive or inappropriate behavior.
5. Periodically works beyond normal work hours or on-call as needed.
PHYISICAL/MENTAL CONDITIONS
1. Must possess ability to record, convey and present information, explain procedures and follow instructions.
2. Must be able to stand and sit often, with occasional standing, twisting, bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching as necessary in order to carry out essential job duties.
3. Light work, with occasional lifting/carrying of objects.
4. Requires very coordinated dexterity of fingers/hands, arms/legs/torso as necessary to carry out job duties.
5. Must demonstrate emotional stability.
6. Must be able to mentally react quickly in the event of a disturbance or traumatic event.
7. Must be able to cope with physical and mental stress of the position.
8. Must be able to move frequently throughout the workday.
9. Must pay close attention to detail and concentrate on work.
QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. Must be able to speak and understand the English language in an understandable manner and in order to carry out essential job duties.
2. Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Must possess ability to function independently, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with general public, prisoners, staff and others.
4. Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to client information and records.
5. Must possess the technical knowledge of operating personal computers and other office equipment with accuracy and reasonable speed, paying particular attention to detail.
6. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania’s driver’s license.
7. Must possess general knowledge of law enforcement/security principals, practices, methods and procedures and ability to apply them to the duties of the job.
8. Must possess ability to coordinate a variety of duties and efforts and work well with other departments.
9. Must possess initiative, discretion and be able to make decisions when circumstances warrant.
10. Must submit to random drug and/or health screenings as seen necessary.
11. Must possess a willingness to learn, manage, monitor, and maintain security related building systems.
