Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and motivated Dental Assistant to join our small, close-knit dental practice. Our office provides a wide variety of care, including general dentistry, implants, wisdom tooth extractions, oral surgery, and IV sedation.
Because we are a small practice with two operatories and a team of two dental assistants, teamwork and communication are an important part of our day. We are looking for someone who enjoys working closely with the doctor and fellow assistant, is willing to learn, and takes pride in helping create a positive experience for both patients and the team.
Our days can vary, and some procedures may be more involved than others. We are looking for someone who can stay calm, focused, and organized when the pace picks up, while maintaining a positive and professional attitude. You don't need to know everything — we value a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and someone who is comfortable asking questions and growing with the practice.
This is a great opportunity for a dental assistant who enjoys variety, teamwork, and being involved in different areas of dentistry.
Duties
- Assist the dentist with a variety of general, restorative, surgical, implant, and IV sedation procedures.
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials while maintaining proper sterilization and infection control standards.
- Take dental X-rays and assist with diagnostic procedures as needed.
- Prepare and support patients before, during, and after treatment, including assisting with medical history, vital signs, and post-operative instructions.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and assist with entering treatment notes, treatment plans, and patient information into the practice management system.
- Utilize Open Dental or similar dental software; experience is a plus, but training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Help keep the operatories organized, stocked, and ready for the day's procedures.
- Work closely with the doctor and fellow assistant to maintain smooth patient flow and an efficient clinical environment.
- Provide patients with a welcoming, reassuring, and professional experience throughout their visit.
- Be willing to assist with additional clinical responsibilities as needed in our small-practice environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous dental assisting experience preferred.
- Experience with general dentistry is preferred; surgical or implant experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with IV sedation is preferred but not required.
- Comfortable assisting with a variety of dental procedures or eager to learn.
- Familiarity with Open Dental or another dental practice management system is a plus.
- Comfortable with or willing to learn treatment note and treatment plan entry.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, X-rays, and infection control procedures.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Able to work well with a small team and communicate effectively with the doctor and fellow assistant.
- Able to remain calm, focused, and professional during busy or more involved procedures.
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to help wherever needed.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who wants to become a valued part of a small, supportive dental team.
Our practice offers the opportunity to gain experience across many areas of dentistry rather than performing the same type of procedure every day. From routine general dentistry to implants, oral surgery, wisdom teeth, and IV sedation, there is always an opportunity to learn something new.
The right person will be a team player who is dependable, adaptable, and comfortable with a busy clinical environment. We understand that every day won't be the same, and we value someone who can stay composed, communicate well, and work through the occasional challenging moment with a positive attitude.
Experience is important, but personality, work ethic, teamwork, and willingness to learn are just as important to us.
If you're looking for a position where you can grow your skills, work closely with an experienced doctor and a small team, and be an important part of the patient experience, we'd love to meet you!
