Responsibilities:
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients
- Assist clients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Prepare meals and assist with feeding if necessary
- Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals
- Monitor and document clients' vital signs and report any changes to the appropriate personnel
- Assist with mobility and transfers, including using proper lifting techniques
- Help clients with light housekeeping tasks such as laundry and tidying up
- Accompany clients to appointments or social outings as needed
- Follow all HIPAA regulations to ensure client privacy and confidentiality
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with clients, their families, and healthcare professionals
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively
- Understanding of social work systems and resources to provide appropriate support to clients
- Experience in patient care, preferably in a nursing home or similar setting
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and protocols
- Ability to lift and transfer clients safely using proper body mechanics
