Anticipated for 2026-2027 School Year
Western New York Maritime Charter School is a military-style public charter school built on structure, accountability, and leadership development. Our classrooms operate with clear systems, consistent expectations, and a strong adult presence.
This role requires more than content knowledge. We are looking for a teacher who can lead a classroom with authority, consistency, and clarity.
You should:
- Establish clear routines and expectations from day one
- Maintain tight classroom management without constant escalation
- Be comfortable correcting behavior in the moment, every time
- Balance strong relationships with non-negotiable standards
- Thrive in a structured, high-accountability environment
- Teach Social Studies in a way that builds critical thinking, discipline, and engagement
If you struggle with consistency, avoid addressing behavior, or rely on "student choice" without structure, this is not the right fit.
- New York State Certification, Social Studies 7-12
- NYSED Fingerprint Clearance
- Strong working knowledge of NYS Social Studies Framework and Regents expectations
- Deliver structured, standards-aligned instruction that drives Regents readiness
- Build classrooms with predictable systems, routines, and procedures
- Maintain a learning environment where:
- Students are engaged and accountable
- Disruptions are addressed immediately
- Expectations are clear and consistently enforced
- Use data and assessment results to adjust instruction and close gaps
- Develop students' ability to:
- Analyze primary and secondary sources
- Write with clarity and evidence
- Engage in structured discussion and debate
- Communicate regularly with families and staff regarding progress and concerns
- Contribute to a schoolwide culture of discipline, respect, and urgency
- You show up prepared and on time, every day
- You follow schoolwide systems and expectations with fidelity
- You do not ignore low-level behavior issues
- You hold students accountable for both academics and conduct
- You maintain professionalism in all interactions
- Your classroom runs on systems, not personality
- Students understand expectations and meet them consistently
- Academic data shows measurable growth and Regents readiness
- You are aligned with the school's mission and expectations
- You contribute to a calm, structured, high-functioning building
- Composed under pressure; responds with solutions, not excuses
- Direct, clear communicator
- Consistent and accountable
- Team-oriented and aligned
- Strong presence without being reactive
- Clear expectations and strong leadership support
- Structured environment that allows teaching to happen
- Mission-driven work with real impact
- Opportunity to be part of a school focused on execution, not theory
- NYS Certification, Social Studies 7-12
- NYSED Fingerprint Clearance
