A well-established, privately owned metals recycling company is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations for a busy recycling facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys improving equipment reliability, mentoring technicians, and driving operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all preventive maintenance and repair activities for mobile equipment, trucks, trailers, and plant equipment.
- Prioritize maintenance work orders to maximize equipment availability and minimize downtime.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance technicians while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Manage parts inventory, shop supplies, vendor relationships, and maintenance purchasing.
- Perform equipment inspections, troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues, and coordinate major repairs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair documentation, and equipment history.
- Partner with operations to improve reliability, equipment performance, and overall productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous maintenance leadership experience in metals recycling, heavy equipment, mining, construction, aggregates, waste, transportation, or other heavy industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, powertrain components, and heavy mobile equipment.
- Experience maintaining forklifts, loaders, excavators, material handlers, trailers, and commercial trucks.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics.
- Experience managing maintenance budgets, inventory, and vendor relationships.
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
- CDL, OSHA certification, or other technical certifications are advantageous but not required.
