Duties
- Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including sterile IV admixture procedures and compounding medications using aseptic techniques.
- Manage medication inventory, including stock replenishment and proper storage according to pharmaceutical regulatory compliance standards.
- Accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations for medication dosages, infusion rates, and drug interactions to ensure patient safety.
- Enter prescription data into pharmacy software systems with precision while maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with state and federal healthcare laws.
- Support patient service activities such as intake, medication administration, and providing clear drug information using medical terminology and pharmacological terminology.
- Ensure adherence to hospital or community pharmacy protocols, including drug regulation policies and sterile technique procedures.
- Maintain meticulous records of medication dispensing, IV compounding, and inventory logs to support regulatory audits and quality assurance.
Qualifications
- Prior pharmacy technician experience in LTC (Long-Term Care), hospital, or community pharmacy settings is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, sterile IV infusion procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred; state-specific pharmacy technician certification is required where applicable.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and data entry processes essential for efficient workflow management.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, pharmacological medical terminology, and hospital or healthcare environment protocols.
- Experience with pharmaceutical regulatory compliance, drug regulation laws, and maintaining patient confidentiality is critical.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient care, intake procedures, and effective communication within multidisciplinary teams.
