We have a very exciting opportunity for a Commercial Inter State Class A Truck Driver to join our Global Logistics department at GA-ASI, located in Poway, CA. This position offers the opportunity to travel to key Suppliers located within the United States and perform critical pickups and deliveries. Travel required would generally be as follows: bi-weekly roundtrips to various locations that would require the candidate (Driver) to spend 2-3 nights away from home base, spending the night either in a hotel or our company sleeper semi-truck. When the candidate (Driver) is not on their assigned bi-weekly road trip, then they are performing local pickups and deliveries in the greater San Diego and Riverside/San Bernadino Counties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under limited supervision, the candidate (Driver) is responsible for operating Class A Heavy Duty company vehicles, including a variety of 53’ trailers and Power Unit Semi Trucks to transport a variety of large and highly valuable and sensitive materials, merchandise and/or heavy equipment.
- Perform pickups and deliveries across multiple US Western States on a bi-weekly basis that require 2-4 days of total travel time.
- Perform pickups and deliveries within the greater San Diego, Riverside and San Bernadino Counties as needed. Note: these are day trips only.
- Proven experience and ability to handle, load and transport extra-large and sensitive equipment. This also includes operating large forklifts to handle and load the equipment on and off trailers.
- Candidate (Driver) assists with the Loading and Unloading of vehicles to ensure material/equipment being transported is secured and protected while in transit.
- Must have strong understanding of US DOT required paperwork including creating and validating bill of ladings, manifests, hazardous materials declarations, trip reports, DVIR’s, etc.
- May transport hazardous or dangerous good materials in accordance with US DOT regulations and requirements.
- Working overtime is often required.
- US Security Clearance is preferred. And/or the ability to obtain a security clearance after hiring.
- Responsible for observing all laws, US DOT regulations and any other applicable Company guidelines and requirements.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
