Responsibilities
- Measure customers accurately to determine necessary alterations and ensure proper fit.
- Use sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques to modify garments according to specifications.
- Perform garment construction adjustments, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing clothing items.
- Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs and provide expert advice on alterations.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition.
- Follow safety procedures when operating sewing machines and other equipment.
- Complete all alterations efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Experience in fashion retail or tailoring is highly preferred.
- Strong sewing skills with proficiency in operating sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques.
- Knowledge of garment construction principles is essential for precise alterations.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- Basic math skills for taking measurements, calculating seam allowances, and adjusting patterns.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
