Job Summary:
The RGS Project Landscape Architect is responsible for planning and designing a wide range of outdoor spaces and site development plans. They combine artistic and technical skills to ensure aesthetically pleasing and functional design solutions. Projects range from small scale gardens to large scale land planning designs in both urban and rural settings. Responsibilities include development of conceptual designs, using CADD software to draw plans, development of site grading solutions, construction detailing, planting designs, construction administration and observation, and report writing. While still task oriented, this individual is able to provide some oversight to others on the team in areas they have mastered. Their oversight is more oriented towards parts or specific aspects of a project rather than the project as a whole. Overall, their work is still guided on a regular basis by a more senior person. However, as registered professionals, individuals at this level carry a greater level of professional responsibility for their independent work than a non-registered “Project Site Designer”.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Research, review, and interpret local Zoning, Subdivision & Land Development ordinances
- Perform site layout, grading, and road design within AutoCAD C3D (or the ability to oversee this aspect with a drafter/designer)
- Understanding of utility layout, profiling, and detailing for gravity sanitary sewer and water systems
- Prepare planting plans
- Prepare compelling presentation graphics/renderings
- Prepare lighting design
- Material and site furniture selections
- Prepare opinions of probable cost
- Understanding of stormwater conveyance design, detailing, and computations
- Understanding of erosion and sediment control facility design, detailing, and computations
- Provide construction phase services including oversight during construction of site related features and planting plans, shop drawing review, RFI responses, CSK preparation, etc.
- Prepare as-built record plans for submission to local, state, and federal agencies
- Provide mentorship, technical support, and delegation to drafter/designer staff

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, or related field
Professional Registration Required
Min 5 – 7 years of relevant experience
Position Details
Salary commensurate with experience
40 hours per week
Monday thru Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, dependent upon project work
