American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring specialized ortho, gyn, and sports medicine surgical experience with a compact or TX RN license.

Work in the Operating Room department of a surgical hospital setting
-
1:1 patient ratio
-
Day shift schedule, 5x8 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
-
Weekday nights, weekend, and holiday on-call required
-
No weekend shift requirement
-
Floating required between units and sister facilities within the state
-
Uses Epic EMR system
-
Uses electrosurgical units, Hana Table, Steris, robotics, and Mako Surgical System equipment
-
Active Compact or TX RN license required in hand at time of consideration

Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required
-
Teaching hospital experience required
-
Epic charting system experience required
-
Ortho Mako, Gynecology, Sports Medicine, and Ortho Total Joints experience required
-
Experience with procedures including hysterectomy, colporrhaphy, laparoscopic gynecological procedures, ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy, spinal fusion, total joint replacement, and general surgery procedures

Skills in blood product administration, infection control, specimen handling, peripheral IV starts, Universal Protocol time-out procedures, and urinary catheterization

Preferred charge nurse experience

Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Provide perioperative nursing care across orthopedic, gynecologic, general surgery, urology, and neurology specialties

Perform emergency management procedures including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia protocols

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Must reside within 50 miles for local candidate consideration at applicable pay rate

Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility

Holiday coverage required for at least 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)

RTO requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer, as post-submission requests may not be accommodated
