Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) works under the direction of the Director of Nursing (DON) to provide quality, holistic nursing care in accordance with nursing practice standards and health care regulations that govern the practice of professional nursing. RNs lead and direct licensed and non-professional staff in the delivery of direct resident care and support functions.
Duties
1. Know, understand and implement the mission of Monument Health.
2. Follow all company policies as contained in the Associate Handbook, Code of Conduct and all other active policies including but not limited to attendance, dress code, workplace safety, zero-tolerance policies and professional conduct.
3. Participate in all required meetings, trainings and events.
4. Conduct the daily nursing functions in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
5. Ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures including the safety program.
6. When assigned, admit, transfer and discharge residents with documentation regarding care and service provided.
7. Participate in the orientation of new residents/family members to the facility.
8. Make rounds with health care provider as assigned.
9. Utilize nursing personnel qualifications according to the resident’s care plan, wishes and health care provider orders when in charge of staffing, scheduling or coordinating.
10. Complete daily clinical and environmental rounds to evaluate resident care being provided and report significant events.
11. Meet and resolve issues with residents and/or family members; report significant issues to the Director of Nursing or his or her designee.
12. Participate in facility surveys (inspections) as requested by facility management.
13. May be responsible for clinical programs as directed, e.g. dementia, wound care, quality assurance, infection control, admissions.
14. Complete an initial assessment and develop interim care plan.
15. Update, review and transcribe the care plan that identifies the goals, problems, approaches and revisions based on nursing needs and new health care provider orders.
16. Communicate with health care provider to review treatment plans, complete orders, progress notes, etc., in accordance with established policies.
17. Review the resident’s medical record for specific treatments, medication orders, diets, labs etc., as for implementation and follow up.
18. Requisition and arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services, as ordered by the health care provider, and in accordance with established procedures.
19. Communicate the department’s policies and procedures to personnel, residents and visitors when appropriate.
20. Communicate with written (24-hour report) and oral reports/recommendations concerning any changes in resident condition and other activities of your shift to nursing management.
21. Fill out and complete accident/incidents involving residents or staff and submit to the Director of Nursing.
22. Complete and file assessments and all other medical record documentation as required to provide care services.
23. Provide resident and family information for care conferences or other meetings.
Qualifications
> Active, Non-Probationary RN License
> Active, Class-Instructed CPR Certification
> Background Screening, Licensure Verification (if applicable), Reference Check, Drug Testing
> Tuberculosis Testing
> Employee Health Screening (Conducted after Hire)
> Ability to Move, Lift and Transfer a minimum of 50 Pounds
> Must be able to Speak, Read, Write and Understand English
