Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Utilize blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions to fabricate and modify tooling and machine parts.
- Perform machining operations using lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and repair of molds, including:
- Polishing
- Replacement of pins and bushings
- Dimensional inspections
- Troubleshoot and maintain hot runner systems
- Sharpen and maintain mold components and shop tools (cutting rings, knife blades, etc.).
- Document all job assignments and time spent on work cards or digital logs.
- Maintain department machinery (oil, coolant, cleaning, calibration).
- Troubleshoot tooling/mold problems and collaborate on solutions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with safety standards.
- Wear all required PPE including safety glasses, ear protection, and safety shoes.
- Restore sanitary conditions to product-contact surfaces upon completion of work.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Related background in machine trades, with at least 5 years working experience
- Work history consistent with experience on close tolerance, multi-cavity injection molds.
- Strong blueprint reading and measurement instrument skills (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
