Job Title: Afterschool Child Care Staff

Status: Part-Time Hourly
Reports to: Director of School Age Child Care/Site Leader
Position Summary:
Positive, energetic adults interested in building and being a part of a cohesive afterschool team and program that will benefit elementary aged children. Significant responsibilities of developing a positive, welcoming and nurturing atmosphere to ensure that student participants are safe, secure, having fun and developing skills that will help them become successful young adults.
Essential Functions:
1. Thoughtful and thorough planning and implementation of activities for students that attend the YMCA afterschool program.
2. Activities are aimed at increasing student academic, social, physical and emotional well-being.
3. Assist site supervisor or director in maintaining appropriate student and family records (attendance, incident logs, behavior reports, progress reports, etc.)
4. Mentor and provide a positive role model for students through action, speech and behavior.
5. Help to build and provide a stable, safe and well-disciplined environment with set expectations for staff and students.
6. Recruit and register students for Y programs.
7. Build relationships with school personnel and community partners.
8. Interact and inform parents of students’ progress.
9. Participation in training and meetings as scheduled by the Y leadership team.
10. Additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma is required.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
3. Previous experience in childcare, youth development and/or recreation or other related fields of experience is preferred.
4. Very organized and reliable.
5. Demonstrates success in an independent work environment.
6. CPR and First Aid are preferred.

The Richmond Family YMCA engages children grades K-6 in a wide range of academic, social and physically enriching activities that focus on the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Daily activities include homework and tutoring, outside/physical activity time, snack time, and enrichment activities.
Students are able to interact with positive role models through dedicated staff members that truly take an interest in them and their development.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour

- Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- First Aid Certification (Preferred)
- CPR Certification (Preferred)
