School to Career Specialist
Marlborough High School (MHS)
Organizational Relationship or Line of Authority:
Works under the supervision of the MHS Principal or designee
Primary Responsibilities:

Preparing students for the middle school to high school transition.

Assisting students in finding internships, preparing students for work experience, placing and supporting students in work experience.
Work Year:
2026-27 School Year
185 Days, 6.5 hours per day exclusive of a 30-minute lunch
Responsibilities:
-
Acting as the liaison between the middle school and high school to assist students in preparing for and choosing a high school.

Working with middle school students to identify areas of strength, interest, etc. using tools such as, but not limited to, My Career and Academic Plan (MYCAP).

Oversee interns in work-based learning opportunities, including, but not limited to, site-based visits.

Conduct and train employer partners in completing individual performance evaluations and collect work-based learning plans.

Assist interns in reflecting on internship experience to identify skills gained and how to leverage them for future educational and employment opportunities.

Address employment-related issue, serve as a liaison between students and employers.

Guide students in using Naviance assessment tools to identify areas on strength, areas of opportunities, and potential career pathways.

Partner with the Marlborough Public Schools (MPS) community, Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), area employers, and other community organizations to continuously grow internship opportunities and career exploration opportunities.

Conduct application intake process and personal interviews to assess a student’s interest in a work experience.

Develop and implement related field trips, career pathway exhibits and other events that will help to build relationships with potential employers and grow opportunities for students.

Provide work readiness services and workshops for:

Resume writing, interviewing skills, business etiquette, employer expectations.

Assist students in how to research, network, and find their own internships.

Other workshops as related to the program.

Facilitate engagement of school administration, guidance personnel and teachers to make them aware of these opportunities for students.

Marlborough Summer Jobs Program:
-
Recruit employers to hire students for summer work experiences.
-
Work with the City of Marlborough to assist students in finding summer work experiences through the city.
-
Adhere to Department of Elementary and Secondary Education mandates for program and placement protocol.

Collect and submit data (participation, success rate, etc.) on scheduled deadlines as set by the principal, designee.

Other responsibilities as defined by the principal or designee.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
-
Five (5) years’ experience working with students and/or employment training programs. Related experience will be considered.
